Facial blood vessels (telangectasias) and red dots (angiomas) can be treated with our Versa pulse 532nm laser. The laser energy safely targets blood vessels under the skin surface while protecting the overlying skin with the cooling tip. Dr. Marcuson in our Williamsburg office performs these treatments.
Intense Pulsed Light
IPL is a light therapy designed to target the tiny dilated blood vessels that cause flushing, blushing and diffuse redness on the face, neck, chest, back or arms. Visible facial vessels can also be effectively treated. Lentigines, the flat brown spots we see on the face, arms, and hands usually related to sun damage can also be treated.
These treatments are sometimes called photo rejuvenation. Treatments are typically repeated every 3-4 weeks for three to five sessions until all desired vessels and sunspots are eradicated. Treatment time ranges from 15 to 30 minutes, and a chill tip is used for increased comfort during the procedure. The treatment results in minimal downtime with some mild pinkness in the areas treated and sometimes transient swelling. Pigmented areas will darken slightly after treatment then fade, usually in one to two weeks.
Dr. Marcuson in our Williamsburg office performs these treatments. Patients should limit their sun exposure for several weeks immediately before and after treatment. Treatments may need to be postponed if you have a tan or artificial tan.
