Dr. Donald W. Shenenberger
Dr. Shenenberger is a native of South Bend, Indiana but grew up in Nashville, Tennessee. He is an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Eastern Virginia Medical School and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. He regularly teaches Dermatology, Family Medicine, and Pediatric residents and received the community faculty of the year award from the Ghent Family Medicine Residency Program.
He retired from the Navy after almost 26 years with a breadth of service that included the USS James Madison SSBN 627 as an Electronics Technician to deployments as a Family Medicine Physician to Haiti, and on the USS Mount Whitney LCC/JCC-20 to the Horn of Africa as Senior Medical Officer. He completed his military career as Chief Medical Informatics Officer at Navy Medicine East and staff Dermatologist at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth.
Dr. Shenenberger is the author of over 30 peer-reviewed articles including reviews on cutaneous malignant melanoma in American Family Physician and removal of unwanted hair on the website UpToDate. He also serves on the editorial board of the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and mentors new reviewers for the journal.
Dr. Shenenberger resides in the Western Branch of Chesapeake with his wife, Kimberly, and their two children
